New Delhi: Big hitter of the cricket ball, West Indian batsman Chis Gayle's unique bat has become the talking point in Australia as according to the rumors it has metal in it.
Gayle is currently participating in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he used the new bat for the first time while representing Melbourne Renegades.
When the West Indian came to bat in the first match of the league, his willow caught the eyes of many due to its golden colour.
In fact, he has now become the first cricketer to use such a coloured-bat.
With new bat, came new controversy as well as few felt that metal might also be used in it.
However, bat manufacturers Spartan made it clear that it does not give the flamboyant opener any special advantage and that the laws of the game have been adhered to.
“There is no metal in the gold colouring we are using in the bat. There are restrictions on what you can and can’t use in cricket bats,” Spartan boss Kunal Sharma told IANS.
Destructive batsman used the bat against Brisbane Heat in the third match of the BBL, smashing two fours and two massive sixes in an exciting innings of 23.
In the same match Gayle smashed two massive sixes against Brisbane to become the first player to hit 600 sixes in the shortest format of the game.
According to former Australia captain Ricky Ponting the bat Gayle is using too heavy and it might work against him.
