Conflict of interest: Interviewer VVS Laxman and interviewee Anil Kumble 'business partners'?

New Delhi: The conflict of interest issue has haunted BCCI over the years. With a new team in place, the Indian board has attempted to be as transparent as possible.

But BCCI always find its hard to stay out of the news for all the wrong reasons.

Apart from the Sourav Ganguly-Ravi Shastri feud, there is a new question being raised over the selection process for interview of coach.

According to a report in DNA newspaper, one of the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee is a shareholder in Anil Kumble's company.

The person in question is VVS Laxman, who held 33,332 shares in Tenvic Sports at the time of Kumble's interview for the top job.

The company was established in 2011. VVS held 16,666 equity shares in it in 2012. That number almost doubled in 2016.

Apart from the former India batsman, Prakash Padukone and table tennis player Sharath Kamal too are shareholders in Kumble's firm.

All the shareholders got money from Kumble and his company for the services provided.

There is no clarity whether Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly knew about this link but they did not inform the BCCI ombudsman Justice AP Shah about the same.

Considering the fact all three former players were on the page on Kumble's selection, one wonders how appropriate it was for Laxman to help pick his business partner as coach.
