New Delhi: Reacting to the alleged charges of corruption levelled by former cricketer-turned politician Kirti Azad against its officials, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has produced bills pertaining to `all legitimate expenditure' made by the association.
According to a report in The Times of India, the DDCA furnished receipts to refute the charge that it spent Rs 16,000 a day on hiring a computer during international matches, besides denying the charge that Rs 57 crore were given away to vested parties during stadium renovation.
The report added that the DDCA also claimed that the 19 bills which were shown to the media by Azad on Sunday were `manufactured' by the former cricketer himself and not bogus payments as he was claiming.
DDCA working president Chetan Chauhan pointed out that the association didn't hire any computer for Rs 16,000 a day. Instead, it had spent Rs 3,500 a day on hiring a computer service (including engineers) for the 4th Test between India-South Africa earlier this month, which was spent under the supervision of Justice Mukul Mudgal.
DDCA shared with TOI a computer services bill from the 2013 IPL match between Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals, where the association had spent Rs 2,800 a day for every laptop service.
Reacting to DDCA's move, Azad asked, "Why can't the association buy its own laptops instead of hiring them?"
