New Delhi: As Delhi and Disctrict Cricket Association (DDCA) finds itself at the centre of a political slugfest, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now contemplating whether upcoming World T20 matches should be held in the capital.
According to a report in the Times of India, the Indian board is expected to discuss the matter on December 24.
"We are aware of what is going on in Delhi.It is definitely a matter of concern. MV Sridhar, the World T20 tournament director, has done an inspection of all the venues and he will be submitting the report in Mumbai on Thursday . The board members are likely to discuss Delhi's problems on that day itself," a BCCI official told TOI on Sunday .
Also, Delhi High Court had earlier issued an ultimatum to the state cricket association to get mandatory clearances local civic bodies to host matches of the prestigious event.
DDCA was permitted to host the fourth and final Test between India and South Africa by a bench comprising Justices BD Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva on the condition that no future tournament could be conducting at the Feroz Shah Kotla without a completion certificate.
Justice (retired) Mukul Mudgal was appointed as supervisor to conduct the Test against the Proteas.
DDCA has now applied for the completion certificate and are hopeful of securing it by March 31. The ICC World T20 starts on March 8.
