Did VVS Laxman really have other benefits of selecting Anil Kumble as coach? The truth is out!

If the Sourav Ganguly – Ravi Shastri furore wasn't enough in selection of Anil Kumble as the coach of Indian national cricket team, VVS Laxman has added another piece of story to take this controversy even further. Laxman apparently was a shareholder in Kumble's company 'Tenvic Sport' when the whole coach interview process took place.

These reports made BCCI dig deep and clarify the situation, as further allegations on the CAC committee comprising of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman would be a troublesome affair to handle.

Completing their reconnaissance, BCCI issued a press release stating -

"The BCCI would like to inform all concerned that at the time prior to the commencement of the functioning of the committee to interview applicants for the job of head coach of the Indian cricket team, V.V.S Laxman had very categorically clarified his current position as well his previous association with Tenvic Sports,"

"It was during the course of the requisite communication, Laxman informed BCCI that he had sold his total shareholding of five per cent in Tenvic Sport in the month of March and also declared that he no longer held any shareholding or any official or unofficial position in Tenvic Sports. This took place prior to the commencement of the operations of this committee."

"VVS Laxman hence did not have a conflict of interest at the time of selection of the head coach of Indian cricket team. All assumptions and conclusions to that effect are therefore erroneous."
