Feroz Shah Kotla: Confusion over ground hosting ICC World Twenty20, IPL 2016 matches continues

New Delhi: The ICC World Twenty20 might be just a month away, however there is no clarity yet on whether the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi will still get to host all the T20I matches as well as IPL 2016 fixtures.

There have been mixed reports about the news.

While the Hindustan Times has reported a top BCCI official telling them that the ground will no longer host any of the important fixtures, The Times of India has said that Feroz Shah Kotla has been given a reprieve from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

"Yes, I can say there will be no World T20 and IPL matches at the Kotla," a BCCI official told HT.

Meanwhile, confirming the ICC's decision, another senior BCCI official told TOI, “As of now, the preparation for the World T20 matches will go ahead as planned. The ICC did not raise objections even when we presented the matter of the DDCA's pending NOCs. All the venues remain the same, including the Kotla."

An ICC release has said, “The (ICC) board was informed that preparations for the World T20 were progressing smoothly , and the BCCI and the ICC were working closely to put together a truly world-class and unforgettable event. The tournament will take place from March 8 to April 3.“

The local cricketing body, DDCA, has been asked to put its house in order and the beleaguered body has been under the scanner in the last few months since they are facing allegations of several financial irregularities.
