Himachal beat Tripura by innings and 15 runs

Agartala: Himachal Pradesh thrashed Tripura by an innings and 15 runs in the Ranji Trophy plate-A pool here at Maharaja Bir Bikram Stadium on Sunday.

In the last day of four-day match, trailing by 227 runs, Tripura were bundled out for 212 in their second innings today.

Resuming from overnight score of 31 of one, a poor batting show by the Tripura boys could not avert the innings defeat.

Middle order batsman Kaushal Acharjee and Vinayak Samantadded 107 runs for the fourth wicket but that was not enough.

Kaushal scored 57 (145 balls, 9 boundaries) in his debut Ranji match and Mumbai professional Vinayak Samant made 50 (125 balls, 6 fours).

Opener Rajib Saha who was unbeaten 24 of day-three, returned back to the pavilion after scoring 42 (94 balls, 7 fours).

Spinner Gurvinder Singh of Himachal Pradesh bagged 5 wickets for 52 runs and pacer Rishi Dhawan took 3 for 65.

Earlier, Tripura scored 304 runs of their first innings in reply to Himachal`s first innings score of 531 runs.

Paras Dogra of Himachal Pradesh was chosen Man of the Match. With this victory, Himachal Pradesh bagged six points with a bonus.
