West Indies opener Chris Gayle picks up injury during Sri Lanka match

New Delhi: West Indies opener Chris Gayle picked up an injury during their ICC World Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka on Sunday in Bangalore.

The 36-year-old didn't come out to bat at his usual opening slot, but then after the fall of third wicket, he started to walk out but the umpire held him back because of the time he was off the field.

Even as the chant of 'Gayle, Gayle, Gayle' reverberates inside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is also the West Indies batsman's home ground in the Indian Premier League, the left-handed batsman was asked to return to the dressing room by the fourth umpire.

He picked up the injury while fielding during Sri Lankan innings.

Sri Lanka made 122 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs.
