Watson picked up the injury during a match against Peshawar Zalmi at Sharjah on Friday.
He will now undergo an assessment in Australia.
Cricket Australia will be worried with this latest development.
Watson is one of the most important members of their WorldT20 side.
Having played for so many years in India, Watto is familiar with the conditions that will greet the Aussies during the World Cup in March.
At the recently concluded IPL auction, Watson was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at a whooping 9.5 crore.
