World Twenty20: Should MS Dhoni opt for Ajinkya Rahane and not Suresh Raina against Bangladesh?

New Delhi: After helping India win the final T20I against Australia at Sydney with an unbeaten 49-run knock, Suresh Raina has hit a rough patch.

After failing to perform against Sri Lanka, the left-hander's poor run continued in the Asia Cup.

The Uttar Pradesh batsman hasn't delivered in both his World Twenty20 outings as well.

He was dismissed for 1 against New Zealand and didn't manage to open his account against Pakistan.

Playing Raina in the team does have couple of advantages. He is an exceptional fielder and can pick the odd wicket like he has done in the two WT20 matches.

However, the 29-year-old's primary responsibility is to score quick runs. But that is something he hasn't been able to achieve in the last couple of series.

While MS Dhoni has not hinted at dropping his trusted man, one can definitely make a case for Ajinkya Rahane's inclusion in place of Raina.

While the Mumbai batsmen hasn't really set the T20 format on fire, he has showcased his pedigree for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

The right-hander can add some solidity to the middle-order and bat with assurance against quality bowling attacks.

While Dhoni dropping Raina is unlikely, current performances suggest time is running on the career of one of the best T20 batsmen in the world.
