Can Ravichandran Ashwin spin cabbage? Here's what his fellow cricketer thinks

New Delhi: It's Ravichandran Ashwin everywhere, in the pages of newspapers, on social media space and even at mohalla gatherings. The ace Indian spinner is everybody's favourite.

He is for sure India's weapon of choice in Test cricket, and he deservedly earned the man of the series award in the New Zealand series for his 27 wickets which he scalped at an strike rate of 32.5.

And he continues to receive praises, from everyone, including his former team-mates. In one such praise, Ashoke Dinda said "On current form @ashwinravi99 would even spin the cabbage on a cricket pitch!"

It will be hard, but not improbable to find video proof of Ashwin spinning a cabbage, but by the look of things and also going by what the offie has got in his official Twitter profile picture, he certainly "can turn things around".

Those who have watched the final session on day 5 of the third Test at Indore will certainly be impressed with how much turn Ashwin managed to procure, and probably that's where Dinda found the cue to make such an improbable statement.

Dinda, who is Ashwin's team-mate at Indian Super League (IPL) franchise Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS), shared an old photo of himself and Ashwin, obviously holding a cabbage, with three other RPS players in a tweet.

Thanks to his career-best match haul of 13 wickets in the third and final match against New Zealand, Ashwin became the top ranked bowler in the latest ICC rankings.

Ashwin, who missed the record to fastest 200 Test wickets by a single match to Clarrie Grimmett, went on to became the bowler with most scalps after 39 Tests.

At this stage, after 39 matches, he has 220 wickets after 39 matches, overtaking the likes of Waqar Younis (208) and Dennis Lillee (206) in the process.
