Ghaziabad: Five alleged bookies have been arrested from a flat in Sahlimar Garden area, police said on Friday.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada said following a tip-off police raided a basement in a rented flat in Shalimar Garden Extension-1 and arrested Nawabuddin, Sandeep, Ismail, Sharad and Anand, all natives of Haryana.
Upon interrogation they confessed to accepting bets for 'IPL Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders' cricket match from their customers in Punjab and Haryana.
Police have seized Rs 28,000 in cash, 38 mobile phones, 2 laptop computers, TV screen and a set top box from the flat.
All have been sent to jail, police said.
