New Delhi: England may well continue to ignore Kevin Pietersen, but the flambouyant batsman has been doing all the right things with the bat.

In yet another show of class, the 35-year-old Stars batsman s scored a strokeful 67-run innings off 43 deliveries in their Big Bash League Melbourne derby against Renegades on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 155, Stars rode onto KP's brilliance to win the match by 8 wickets with 12 deliveries remaining at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne.

Earlier in Renegades innings, Marcus Stoinis had an inspired bowling performance to chalk out a figure of 2-0-11-3 (wickets of Chris Gayle, Cameron White and Tom Beaton).

Pietersen hasn't played for England since being dropped in 2014, but he showed the 35-year-old still wield the bat as good any of the top batsmen in the world, especially in the T20 format.

One of the best batting talents of his era, Pietersen, is often regarded as England's greatest modern batsman.

But his many issues with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officials doomed his international career and has since been a regular in T20 franchise leagues around the world.
