Mahela Jayawardene opts out of T20s, ODIs against Pak

Johannesburg: Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene has reportedly opted out of playing in the Twenty20 and one-day international series against Pakistan starting next month, and has cited personal reasons behind his decision.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed Jayawardene`s decision, and has also added in a statement that the two teams are scheduled to play two Twenty20s and five ODIs in the United Arab Emirates starting from December 11, followed by a three-match Test series.

According to Sport24, the statement further said that left-arm spinner Rangana Herath has been left out of the T20 squad, adding that he has been rested considering the number of matches he will play ahead of World Cup 2015.
