Months after AAP's allegations, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla speaks about Arun Jaitley's role at DDCA

New Delhi: Few months ago, Delhi's AAP government made several allegations of financial impropriety against India's Finance Minister Arun Jaitley with regards to his tenure as head of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

The BJP leader dragged AAP supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to court for defamation.

Mr. Jaitley received plenty of support from his party, BCCI and DDCA over the matter.

On Saturday, Congress RS MP and IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla too came out in support of Mr. Jaitley.

"Those are just allegations. There is no evidence. I think Arun Jaitley did a wonderful job as president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). His contribution to Indian cricket as the BCCI vice-president and as DDCA president must be admired and appreciated," said Shukla responding to a question at the Indian Express' Idea Exchange.

Another interesting admission made by him was with regards to the next edition of the IPL. Echoing sentiments of BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, Shukla said the Indian board was working on moving the cash-rich league out of the country next year.

"We are working on taking it overseas next year. We are also thinking of launching a tier-2 IPL," he stated.
