PCB suspends all player contracts

Lahore, March 31: After Pakistan team’s below par performance in the Caribbean, a tough-talking PCB Chairman Dr Naseem Ashraf finally spoke to the media and delineated board’s plans for the future of cricket in the country. Ashraf announced suspension of all player contracts and added that PCB would adopt no-tolerance policy towards indiscipline.

Ashraf said, “A new central contract will be formed which all the players will need to sign if they want to play for Pakistan.” The new contract would be implemented within 90 days." He also ended all speculations about the new coach by saying, "The new coach of the Pakistan cricket team will be a Pakistani."

“Emphasis would be on discipline. Manager is the boss of the team. This is the way it is everywhere and players would he expected to fall in line. A new code of conduct would be formed and made public. Players would be made to sign it and everybody would know what is expected from the board and the players.”

Ashraf also said that no decision has been taken so far on the appointment of a new Captain and a new Vice Captain and would be announced within 30 days.

Ashraf also added, “Pakistan has no international commitment till the next 6 months that is till the 20-20 World Cup hence Pakistan Cricket Board has time to decide on its future.” He said that the functioning of the PCB will be much different than what it was earlier and indiscipline in the team wont be tolerated any more no matter how big a player.
