New Delhi: Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid was on Tuesday announced as the new mentor of Delhi Daredevils for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016.

The news was confirmed at a press conference today where Paddy Upton was appointed as the head coach. The Dravid-Upton duo has done well for the now suspended Rajasthan Royals in the last few years.

Apart from the renowed duo, former Mumbai opener Zubin Bharucha, who was earlier part of Rajasthan Royals, was named as the technical director of the side.

Former India players Pravin Amre and Sridharan Sriram remained part of the support staff alongside T A Sekar. The squad will undergo a camp here in two phases with the first phase beginning today at the Teri Ground.

Earlier during IPL auctions, the Daredevils executed their strategy of splurging money into young and promising players instead of established names.

Dravid praised Daredevil's balanced squad and said he was looking forward to spending time with them in the upcoming IPL season.

Dravid was previously the mentor of Rajasthan Royals, a franchise which has been suspended for two years from IPL along with Chennai Super Kings.
