Oz media says Clarke had right to think comment wouldn`t be broadcast

Sydney: The Australian media has claimed that Michael Clarke has a fair argument if he wants to protest his fine over his volcanic sledge at James Anderson because it is an ICC broadcasting protocol that stump mics be turned down between balls.

According to News.com.au, it is one of those rules that is loosely enforced and sometimes not adhered to as much as it should be by broadcasters around the world though for Channel Nine it is a rare error.

As reckless and hostile as the sledge was, Clarke had a right to think his comment would not be broadcast to the cricket world, the report said.

The report talked of how former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist was once asked to tone down his voice for the same reason.
