New Delhi: The Indian Premier League is undoubtedly one of the most prized properties in the sporting world.
Despite the several problems ranging from conflict of interest to spot-fixing and betting, the IPL has never been short of brands wanting to piggyback on its massive reach and popularity.
The league's relationship with its title sponsors has been rocky of late. After DLF washed its hands off the league, Pepsi stepped in and when the beverage giant ended its association, Vivo came on board.
Big brands and corporate houses have no second thoughts when it comes to joining hands with IPL despite the constant problems the league continues to face.
As BCCI is set to replace the suspended Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings for a period of two years, companies made a beeline to own the two new teams.
"There are 21 corporate and large business houses which have bought bid documents. Now buying bid documents doesn't necessarily mean participating in the bid," a top BCCI official told PTI.
Though that list has not been made public, here are 11 companies believed to have bought the Rs 2 invitation to tender (ITT) document according to a ESPNCricinfo report.
