Well balanced squad, team will be rejuvenated: Srikanth

New Delhi: Chairman of cricket selection committee K Srikkanth on Thursday backed the new look Team India that saw the omission of veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh, saying the board has full confidence in the team.

“The youngsters performed well in the England series. We have confidence in them and it will be a good opportunity for them.” he said.

"This is the first selection meeting of the new committee and we had a good discussion. Dhoni and new selector Jimmy was with us. We discussed everything threadbare and we have come to a good combination. We have chosen a very balanced side," Srikkanth told reporters.

Terming the squad as a well balanced unit, he said the inclusion of fresh faces will rejuvenate the team.

"We have not compromised on quality, it is a well-balanced side, a rejuvenated one, and even Dhoni is confident we will do well in future," he added.

Blaming injury as the main reason behind resting the seniors for the upcoming ODI series against England, Srikanth said that the home conditions would be advantageous providing a good platform for the youngsters to learn and prove their mettle.
