New Delhi: Barcelona star Neymar subjected to alleged racist chants during their La Liga match at Espanyol on Saturday.
Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has confirmed that racist comments were hurled at the Brazil player at Estadi cornella-el prat, when Spanish champions were held to goal-less draw by the Catalan side.
“In one corner, in the first half, from one supporter (about the racist chants)," ace midfielder Iniesta was quoted as saying by espnfc.com.
Following the report, Barca defender Gerard Pique called for punishment to the people if they had done it. However, the Spaniard denied seeing or hearing anything during the match.
"If that happened, obviously they should be charged and the correct measures taken," Pique said.
About the reported incident, former Barcelona president Toni Freixa tweeted.
Which "I hope that the racist chants at Neymar are included in the referee's report," Freixa wrote.
