New Delhi: Justifying their title credentials, Leicester overwhelmed English Premier League title rivals Manchester City 3-1 on Saturday to go six points clear at the top of the table.

Billed as the potential title decider, the match at Etihad Stadium started with Claudio Ranieri's Foxes taking an early lead thanks to a third-minute Robert Huth from a Riyiad Mahrez set-up.

Thanks to their relentless pressing game, albeit from limited ball possession, the visitors found the second goal just after the break, with an impressive Mahrez finishing from a solo effort in the 48th minute. It was his 14th League goal of a hugely impressive season.

Despite leading their closest title contenders by two goals to nil, Leicester continued playing in their usual flair, attacking. At the hour-mark, the experienced German defender made it 3-0 in favour of the visitors with brilliant header which beat a leaping Joe Hart at the top far corner, from a corner.

Even as a forlorn looking Manule Pellegrini looked on from the dug-out, Ranieri continued to play the proverbial father figure on the touch-line constantly guiding the team in their bid for a convincing win.

For the home side, Argentine striker Sergio Aguero scored a consolation goal towards the stoppage time.

All in all, it was a yet another chapter is Leicester's record making season and with 53 points after 25 outings, they now are the favourites to lift the title.
