You shouldn`t compare me with Pep Guardiola: Zinedine Zidane

New Delhi: Since the news broke that Zinedine Zidane is going to replace Rafa Benitez as Real Madrid's head coach, many arm-chair critics have started comparing the Frenchman with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.

Very much like Zidane, Guardiola too became manager at the Nou Camp in 2008, with no top-level experience in the job.

However, Zidane feels that people should not compare him with Guardiola, who is currently managing the top Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich.

"Guardiola is a fantastic coach and what he is doing is very impressive. Guardiola is Guardiola. I will do my best. I will not compare myself with anyone. I never did it as a player and I won`t do it now," Zidane told a news conference.

It seems that Zidane, who played for Real for five years and helped France win the 1998 World Cup, has already set his targets for Real Madrid.

“I have clear targets and I`m going to do everything I can to reach those targets.

“Good football has always been important at this place and I am going to continue that. The target always is to win the Champions League and I will try to make that possible,” added the 43-year-old.
