The victim was reported as a 35-year-old male but further information was being withheld by the family.

Savannah: A runner died after taking part in the Rock `n` Roll Marathon event Saturday (November 7) morning in Savannah, Georgia.

The victim was reported as a 35-year-old male but further information was being withheld by the family.

"All the medical stations had a lot of people at them, I think a lot of people were cramping up from the heat," runner Jill Drake said after she finished her race.

Rock n Roll Marathon organizers issued a statement confirming the death.

Unusually high temperatures for the area, up to 80 degrees fahrenheit, forced the race to be cut short and aid stations along the route were busier than normal due to the heat.
