New Delhi: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal received the prestigious Padma Bhushan award from President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday.

After receiving the award, former world No.1 admitted that it will encourage her to perform better in the future.

"It is a great moment for me. It will encourage me to perform even better in the coming future and continue to make India proud," Nehwal was quoted as saying by ANI.

The other recipients of the prestigius award were Hafeez Sorabe Contractor, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, Anupam Pushkarnath Kher, Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry, Saina Nehwal, Vinod Rai, Alla Ventaka Rama Rao and Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy.

The 26-year-old Olympic medalist also congratulated Indian cricket team for reaching the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20.

"India is doing extremely well. They have made it to the semifinals and I wish them all the very best. I hope they continue playing well and win the tournament," said Nehwal.
