REVEALED: YIKES! Why Rio Olympics dive pool mysteriously turned green overnight

New Delhi: In a rather shocking development, water in the Rio Olympics diving pool changed its color form blue to green on Tuesday.

According to an official, this sudden transformation was due to the 'proliferation of algae', reported TIME.

Several athletes were left baffled on witnessing the same. The Olympic organizers however released a statement to assure everybody that there was no danger to athletes due to this color change.

“To ensure a high quality field of play is mandatory to the Rio 2016 organizing committee. Water tests at Maria Lenk Aquatic Center diving pool were conducted and found to be no risk to the athletes’ health,” read the statement from the organizers.

The color change was observed before the start of the women’s synchronized diving final Tuesday night. Interestingly just 24 hours before, water in the pool was clear blue.
