Tennis: Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna started their campaign on a positive note with a straight sets victory over Sam Stosur and Jonathan Peers of Australia.

Archery: Archers Deepika Kumari and Laishram Bombayla Devi crashed out of the women`s individual event .

Hockey: Men's hockey team went down fighting 1-2 to the Netherlands, while the women's team was outclassed 0-3 by USA.

Badminton: The doubles events started on a disappointing note as both the men`s and women`s doubles teams of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy and Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa lost their respective opening round matches. But Saina and Sindhu provided some relief to the fans by winning their opening matches albiet in contrasting styles.

Kidambi Srikanth edged past Lino Muzon of Mexico in straight games 21-11, 21-17 in the campaign opening Group H match

Boxing: Shiva Thapa saw his campaign come to an end after he lost his Bantam weight (56kg) category bout to Cuba`s Robeisy Ramirez.

Golf: Anirban Lahiri ends the day at +3 over par and SSP Chawrasia ended at even par.
