New Delhi:  India lifted its sagging morale as Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna cruised into the semifinals while pugilist Vikas Krishan advanced to the quarters on a day the shooters, archers, shuttlers and track and field athletes suffered reverses at the Rio Olympics.

Here is how the Indian contingent fare on Day 7 of the Olympic Games.

Boxing: Vikas Krishan defeated Onder Sipal of Turkey 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the men`s Middleweight (75kg) category

Tennis: Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna entered the semi-finals of the mixed doubles tennis event by defeating Andy Murray and Heather Watson of Britain in straight sets.

Shooting:  Gagan Narang and Chain Singh bowed out of Rifle Prone in the qualification, even as Gurpreet Singh and Mairaj Ahmed Khan finished the stage 1 qualifying of 25m rapid fire pistol and men's skeet on 10th position.

Rowing: Dattu Bhokanal gave a spirited performance and qualified for Final C after finishing second in men`s singles sculls semi-final C/D 2.

Badminton:  Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa was eliminated from women's doubles event after losing a second successive group A clash while Manu Attri and his partner B Sumeeth Reddy crashed to their second defeat in the group and were knocked out of medal reckoning.

Archery: Atanu Das crashed out of the men`s Individual 1/8 Eliminations to end the country`s campaign in the archery events.

Athletics: Manpreet Kaur and Jinson Johnson also added to the disappointment after failing in their respective disciplines.

Manish Singh Rawat finished 13th while his two other compatriots Gurmeet Singh and Krishnan Ganapathi were disqualified early in the men's 20km race walk road event.

Discus thrower Vikas Gowda failed to qualify in the qualifying round, securing the 28th position among 35 athletes.

Muhammed Anas, Ankit Sharma and Dutee Chand failed to qualify for the finals of their respective events.

Golf: S.S.P. Chawrasia and Anirban Lahiri scored even-par 71 and two-over 73 to finish tied 30th and joint 51st respectively after the second round.

Hockey: The men'steam continued their inconsistent performance and were held 2-2 by lower-ranked Canada in their final group phase game that failed to guarantee it a third place in Pool B.
