Melbourne: World No. 1 Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer 6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the first semifinal of men's singles event of Australian Open at the Rod Laver Arena on Thursday.

It was expected to be a neck-to-neck fight, but barring the third set, the Serbian dominated the proceedings throughout the match and got the better of the Swiss maestro.

Even though the crowd was behind the 17-time Grand Slam champion, Djoker was cruising towards victory after a tremendous show in the first two sets. It was only in the third set that Federer managed to break his opponent's serve, only to delay his victory.

The third set was the highlight of the match where both players played some superb shots and enthralled the crowd with breathtaking rallies.

Djokovic was back at his best in the fourth set and booked yet another Australian Open final.

The World No. 1 will now play against the winner of the second semi-final between Andy Murray and Milos Raonic.
