Agni-5 missile having 5,000 km range is India's answer to China's Dongfeng-41

The Agni 5 project is aimed at enhancing India's nuclear deterrence against China which has missiles like Dongfeng-41 having ranges between 12,000-15,000 km.

The indigenously-developed missile Agni-V, can carry a nuclear warhead of more than one tonne and is capable of striking a target more than 5,000 km.

This was the sixth trial of the state-of-the-art Agni-5. The missile covered its full distance during the trial which was a total success, they said.

Nuclear capable surface-to-surface Agni-5 ballistic missile test-fired

Agni-V is about 17 meters long, 2 metres wide and has a launch weight of around 50 tonnes. The missile can carry a nuclear warhead of more than one tonne.
