As per initial trends, the BJP is leading on 30 and Congress-JMM-RJD alliance is in 41 seats. The AJSU and the JVM are leading on five and four seats respectively.

Jharkhand assembly election: 62.95% voter turnout recorded, voting ends

The voting for the third phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections is currently underway on Thursday (December 12) for 17 constituencies, taking the five-phased electoral process in the state midway. AJSU president Sudesh Mahto holds the power string in Jharkhand

In 2014, the BJP swept to power in the 82-member Assembly with 37 seats and 31.26 per cent vote share. It had Sudesh Mahto's AJSU as ally winning 5 seats and 3.68 per cent vote.

In Jharkhand, BJP and AJSU alliance hits roadblock

The BJP on Wednesday announced its candidate Sukhdeo Bhagat from the Lohardaga Assembly seat. He is a former Congress president of Jharkhand and joined the BJP just before the announcement of the poll dates. However, the AJSU had already fielded Niru Bhagat from the seat, who filed his nomination on November 11 in the presence of the party president. Soon after the BJP fielded its own candidate, the AJSU leaders went into a huddle.
