The chief minister ordered a ban on all single-engine private boats from plying to Majuli with immediate effect and announced that the construction of a proposed bridge between Jorhat and Majuli will start from November 2021 and will be completed in four years.

Assam: A big boat accident takes place in Majuli, 60 people missing after two boats collide
A horrific boat accident took place in the Brahmaputra river in the Jorhat district of Assam. The accident happened after a collision between two boats. Jorhat Additional DC Damodar Burman said, 40 people, have been rescued. At present, the search is on for 60 people.
