World Food Day 2021: Agri-food systems need to be protected from the climate and biodiversity crises, says UN agencies

The world faces an exponential increase in hunger driven by the climate crisis and biodiversity loss, and urgent responses are needed to protect food and nutrition security, and livelihoods, especially of the marginalised communities, the heads of Food, and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) have warned on the World Food Day 2021. World Food Day is commemorated each year on 16 October to mark the founding of FAO in 1945.
