Coal India January output at 52.86 MT; misses target
State-run miner Coal India Monday said it acheived a production of 52.86 million tonnes coal in January, lower than the target of 56.18 MT for the month.

Govt allows import of coal with higher ash content
The Centre Monday allowed power plants to use imported coal with higher ash content of up to 25 percent, a move which will allow power producers to source the dry fuel from more countries and cut generation cost.
