J&K DDC polls: In a first, BJP bags three seats in Kashmir Valley, wins 75 seats; PAGD maintains overall lead
The BJP emerged as the single largest party as it won 75 seats including three in the Kashmir Valley for the first time. The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) had bagged 100 seats and was leading in 12 others. Forty-seven Independents, mainly disgruntled leaders from all political parties, have been declared winners and six more were leading in other seats.

A total 305 candidates, including 166 from Kashmir division and 139 from Jammu division, are contesting the DDC polls. Out of these 305 candidates, 252 are male, while 53 are female. Sharma said 7,37,648 people are eligible to cast their votes in the third phase of DDC polls.
