Scales tip in fight against AIDS, 1 million lives lost in 2016, down 50% from 2006: UN report

The UN report released on Thursday said that the scales have tipped in the fight against AIDS, with more than half of people infected with HIV now getting treatment and AIDS-related deaths almost halving since 2005.

On its 10th anniversary, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) launched India's first 'Free Condom Store', under which individuals, NGOs, government, private institutions and community-based organisations can order as many condoms as they want.

AIDS deaths in India reduced by 55% since 2007: Nadda

India had recorded 1,48,309 deaths caused by AIDS in 2007, whereas, in 2015, the figure stood at just 67,600.
