‘Over 1500 obsolete, archaic acts to be repealed in Parliament session’: Law Minister Kiren Rijiju

Laws are intended to facilitate justice for the common people rather than to cause them distress. They are intended to prescribe specific mechanisms to ensure that ordinary people's lives are as normal as possible. Kiren Rijiju, the Law Minister, stated in an address to the media.

Lok Sabha passes bill to repeal 58 obsolete Acts in 15 minutes

A bill seeking to repeal 58 obsolete laws was passed unanimously by the Lok Sabha in about 15 minutes. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad moved the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2019 and urged the House to pass it unanimously.

Govt has scrapped over 1,000 obsolete laws: Union Minister Mahesh Sharma

The government has so far scrapped 1,159 obsolete and redundant laws and is working to discard another 400 such laws, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma said on Monday.
