Sujith underwent a three-day-long struggle before he lost his life inside the borewell. Tamil Nadu Ministers including the Deputy Chief Minister were personally monitoring the rescue operations and had met the family of the infant on Monday.

The Principal Secretary of the Transport Department, J Radhakrishnan, had earlier said that Sujith`s body was in a highly decomposed state inside the borewell and was under final observation. "Sujith Wilson, the two-year-old toddler`s body is now in a decomposed state."

Rescue operations of Sujith Wilson in final stage but presence of hard rocks making digging difficult: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijaya Bhaskar

He said, "Rescue operation is in the final stage. As per the original plan, we should have reached 90ft by now, but the hard rocks are hampering drilling efforts and we have only drilled up to 40ft. Even the heavy machinery that we have on-site are struggling to drill the rocky surface. We are in talks with experts regarding alternate plans of action. We are in the final stage of taking a decision."

More than six crews from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) as well as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to rescue Wilson. A team of Madurai fire and rescue department workers is present at the site.
