NASA's Hubble spies on atmosphere of white dwarf being polluted by enormous comet-like object for the first time!
With a chemical composition similar to Halley's comet, the object is 100,000 times more gigantic and contains water, the amount of which is much higher.

The image shows the colorful "last hurrah" of NGC 2440, which lies about 4,000 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation Puppis.

White dwarf found lashing red dwarf in space
Astronomers have discovered a new type of exotic binary star system, in which a rapidly spinning white dwarf star is lashing the companion red dwarf star with high-energy particles, causing the entire system to pulse dramatically every 1.97 minutes with radiation ranging from the ultraviolet to radio.
