Erode town DSP suspended two days prior to suspension

On July 27 an inspector at Anthiyur, Subramaniam, was also suspended from service, four days prior to retirement as there was a case pending against him in the Vachathi case.

Erode: The Deputy Superintendent of Police (Erode town) Suresh Kumar was suspended on Saturday, just two days priot to retirement, as there is a pending enquiry into an alleged lock up death in his earlier stint as Inspector.

The order in this regard was isued by the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu today, police said.

Suresh had assumed the post here just four months back and was due for retirement on July 31.

Police said he was suspended from service, pending an enquiry into an alleged lock up death while he was Inspector at Marthandam in Kanyakumari district and the case was still in progress.

On July 27 an inspector at Anthiyur, Subramaniam, was also suspended from service, four days prior to retirement as there was a case pending against him in the Vachathi case.

The case relates to alleged excesses by police, revenue and forest personnel on tribals of Vachathi in Dharmapuri district in June 1992.
