Indore, Jan 25: Madhya Pradesh Commerce and
Industry Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya, on Sunday said that the
state government will again ask the Centre to declare some of
the industrial areas as "excise free zones" in the state to
attract investments.
"We are readying a fresh memorandum seeking excise
free status to some industrial areas after Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked us to do so, and will submit the
same to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon," he told
reporters here.
If Centre accepts our demand, the exodus of
industries, particularly medicine manufacturing companies to
excise free industrial zones in Uttrakhand and Himachal
Pradesh will stop, he said.
About the unrest in Singrauli over the upcoming
private thermal power station there, he said that the farmers
interest to the state was of paramount importance.
"I think that the anger among the farmers has withered
in Singrauli following state government measures," he added.
To a query, he said the state government was charting
out a new tax policy following the Centre`s direction in this
regard, adding that state will think over abolishing the
entry tax.
Replying to a question, Vijaywargiya said that
the state government was removing the bureaucratic hassles
coming in the way of industrial investments in MP.
