Deoria: The last rites of Border Security Force (BSF) Head Constable Prem Sagar, who was killed and mutilated by Pakistani Army military, were performed in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district on Wednesday.

The family yesterday had refused to perform the last rites, demanding that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visit them.

Though, the Uttar Pradesh CM wasn't able to meet the aggrieved family in person but spoke to them on phone.

Sagar's family today agreed to hold the last rites after Yogi Adityanath spoke to them last night.

The BSF martyr's body was taken to his native Takenpur village on Tuesday. Strong anti-Pakistan sentiments marked the last journey of slain BSF Head Constable.

Poeple thronged to pay a tearful farewell to the brave heart who was beheaded by Pakistani forces in Poonch sector. The people showered petals on the body as a mark of respect.

Prem Sagar was killed in the unprovoked firing from the Pakistan side as they were patrolling the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The BSF trooper's body was mutilated by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT), which had targetted the Indian patrol party in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.

Seeking revenge for the barbaric killing of her father, the daughter of Prem Sagar, Saroj, demanded strong action from the Indian side.

After getting the information about her father's death, Saroj, who lives in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district said, “Want 50 Pakistani soldiers' heads for my father's sacrifice.”
