Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday courted a controversy when he asked if any jawan hailing from Gujarat has martyred.
The Samajwadi Party leader, who recently faced a rout in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, said politics is being played in the name of nationalism and Vande Matram.
“The jawans from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, South India have martyred, why not from Gujarat?” asked Yadav, stirring controversy.
