AMETHI: Unhappy over the depiction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Ravana, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Surya Prakash Tiwari on Monday filed a case against Congress leader Rama Shankar Shukla.

Ahead of Rahul Gandhi's first visit to Amethi as the Congress president yesterday, posters showing Rahul as the Lord and PM Modi as Ravana sparked a controversial row.

The message on one such poster reads: "Rahul roop mein bhagwan Ram ka avatar, 2019 mein ayega Rahul Raj. (Rahul is the incarnation of Lord Ram, Rahul Raj will be seen in 2019)."

Another poster depicts Rahul as Lord Krishna with a message: "Sangharsh se Vijay ki or chal diye maharathi.(the warrior has begun the journey)."

The poster feud between BJP and Congress in Amethi began last year.

In August 2017, “missing” posters of Rahul Gandhi emerged in Amethi.

The posters carried a picture of Rahul Gandhi with a caption that read: Reward for anyone who can trace the missing Amethi MP.

A few days later, similar “missing” posters of the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi appeared in her Lok Sabha constituency in Rae Bareli.

The posters are aimed at the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
