Fire audit ordered in Ghaziabad multi-storey buildings

The GDA will also issue a final notice to builders of various high-tech integrated townships to recover its outstanding Rs 34.27 crore.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Monday ordered fire audit of all commercial and residential multi-storey buildings in the city.

In view of some major recent incidents of fire, the GDA Board decided to audit the buildings to see whether they qualify the fire safety parameters, GDA Chairman Prabhat Kumar told the media.

"I am not talking about fire NOC (No Objection Certificate). I am stressing on fire audit. NOC is very simple to obtain," said Kumar.

"If over 100 people can die due to a building fire in a city like London, what will happen in Ghaziabad if fire breaks out," he asked.

The GDA will also issue a final notice to builders of various high-tech integrated townships to recover its outstanding Rs 34.27 crore.
