Lucknow: In a tragic incident, two young lovers died on a road in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district as no one came forward to help them.
According to reports. a boy identified as Shivam, who wanted to marry Rachna, shot himself in the head when the girl turned down his proposal.
As the boy lay injured in a pool of blood on the road, the girl screamed for help. However, the onlookers, instead of helping the two, kept recording the entire incident on their mobile phones.
However, with no help coming, the girl too shot herself with the same pistol and died on the spot.
A video of the entire incident has now become viral on the social media, which also highlights the growing insensitivity in our society.
In the video, onlookers can be heard telling the lovers that the the police has been informed and are reaching the spot soon.
The two were later taken to the hospital where they were declared brought dead.
Shivam and Rachna were both residents of Etawah.
Shivam was working in Hyderabad. The parents of the boy and the girl had disapproved of their relationship.
Shivam had come to Etawah to attend a wedding when the incident happened.
On February 19, Shivam had asked Rachna to run away with him so that both could get married.
But, Rachna refused to go against her parents' wishes.
Shivam, who was carrying his father’s gun, shot himself in the head and fell down in Rachna’s lap.
A few minutes later, Rachna too shot herself. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.
