It was an unruly scene in the Meerut municipal corporation when members of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to blows during a meeting on Tuesday. A video released by news agency ANI showed scuffle breaking out between councillors of both the parties.
The clashes broke out during the Meerut Nagar Nigam Board meeting. Following a heated argument, members of both the party indulged in a scuffle. Police personnel were seen making attempts to control the situation but they failed to control the unruly officials.

This is not the first time that such a scene has been reported from the Meerut municipal corporation. Members of the BJP and the BSP had in January engaged in a heated argument in Meerut over singing of Vande Mataram. BSP members had played the song instead of singing it leading to an altercation.
The heated argument was ensued because of a proposal floated in the Meerut Municipal Corporation House to terminate the membership of a group of Muslim councillors after the leaders staged a walkout when Vande Mataram was being played.
