PM Modi attended the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence as a guest of honour on March 26 in Dhaka. India keeps a special place for Bangladesh because of the role played by India under the leadership of PM Indira Gandhi in assisting Bangladesh in its freedom struggle in 1971 to end West Pakistani colonialism.
