A 19-year-old woman was allegedly posined by her father while her fiance was shot dead after the couple were 'found guilty' of meeting before their wedding and clicking selfies.

According to a report in Dawn, the woman was allegedly poisoned by her father who wanted to protect his family's honour after finding out she had been meeting her fiancee before getting married. The incident occurred last month and it is around the same time that the man was also shot dead.

Suspecting something is afoul, the woman's mother lodged a police complaint in which she stated that her sister and her son - the fiancee and cousin of the victim - had visited their house days prior to the death. At the time, the couple had met and clicked selfies - much to the resentment of the victim's family.

Subsequent investigations led cops to arrest the victim's father and grandfather.

In his defence, the father has reportedly said that his daughter had committed suicide by consuming poison inside their home in Karachi. It is reported that the body of the girl was buried shortly after she died and that no autopsy was conducted. The body would now be exhumed.
