New Delhi: The era of 'smartness' has gripped the world. Begining with the 'smart' phones then to 'smart' TV then to 'smart' eyewear and now 'smart' wristbands have creeped in the market.

LG started selling the Lifeband in the US market last month for USD 150. And it is likely to be available in parts of Asia and Europe in the coming weeks.

Just like a life companion LG LifeBand Touch keeps a track on your workouts and calories burned and syncs it on your devices through an app-LG Fitness app. The figures collected by the band can be sycn on an iPhone, iPad or any Android device.

The pioneer in the market of wearable gadgets was Samsung followed by Sony and now LG Electronics Inc has sneaked in to grab its share.

The LifeBand Touch has a 3-axis accelerometer and altimeter to track distance, speed, number of steps and the number of calories you have consumed.

Other than the iPhones and Android phones, it is also compatible with LG G Flex and LG G2 via its LG Fitness app which pairs the Touch using Bluetooth 4.0.

Since the band allows for pairing through Bluetooth, you'll also be able to pair it with Bluetooth heart rate monitors and LG's new heart rate headphones.

The band also embraces some smartwatch-like features like the ability to check incoming phone calls, notifications and control music.

Among the existing fitness apps- MyFitnessPal and Runkeeper will be the first ones to work with the LG LifeBand Touch.
